WALTER T. SINGLETON
Died Sept. 27, 2008
LOUISBURG -- Walter Thurman Singleton, 67, died Saturday, after a 20 year battle with cancer.
Graveside funeral services will be held today at 3 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with military honors.
Mr. Singleton retired from the United States Navy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter D. Singleton; two wives, Anna Bell Glen Singleton and Lammerdiena Nout Singleton; and a granddaughter, Amber Singleton.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine Jean Singleton of Louisburg; mother, Rena Lanier Singleton of New Bern; daughters, Zanna Singleton Lambie and husband Bill of New Zealand, Debbie Singleton Davis and husband Jack of Mogadore, Ohio, Dottie Singleton Taylor and husband, Chris of Zebulon; sons, Walter Thurman Singleton Jr. and wife, Robyn of Chesterfield, Va. and George Arthur Singleton and wife, Joan of Chester, Va.; sisters, Dorothy Mills and husband, Fred of New Bern and Sarah Strickland and husband, Lee of Charleston, S.C.; brothers, Leslie Singleton and wife, Gail of Princeton, Linwood Singleton and wife Lynda of Pine Level and Durwood Singleton and wife, Cathy of Goldsboro; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Southeastern Medical Oncology Group, especially Dr. Ernest Marshall and Dr. Keith Lerro.

The family received friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Massey Funeral Home, Zebulon.
Arrangements are being handled by Massey Funeral Home of Zebulon.
