WILLIAM "BILL" LESTER PAGE
Died Sept. 11, 2008
KINSTON -- William "Bill" Lester Page, 84, of Kinston, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, at Howard Carter Funeral Home with the Revs.
Bobby Richardson and Willis Pearson officiating. Visitation will be held following the service. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
Bill Page joined the U.S. Marine Corps at 17 and served in the Pacific Theater during WWII. A veteran of Iwo Jima, Bill later retired from the military after serving over 20 years. He then spent another 20 years with the Civil Service, and 10 years with Walter Kidde Aerospace in Wilson before finally retiring. In addition to his lifetime of professional service, Bill also served his country and community in his private life. His activities included the Masonic Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Marine Corps League, for which he served as State Commandant. Bill was also active with First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Kinston, where he served as head usher.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy M. Page of the home; daughter, Grace Hall of Fayetteville; stepdaughter, Paula Pittman and husband, James, of Wilson; sons, Toby Page of Roanoke Rapids and Randy Page and wife, Sarah, of New Hill; step-sons, Charles O'Neal and wife, Dorothy, of Wilson and William O'Neal and wife, Janet, of Fuquay-Varina; sisters, Ann Machovec and Jean Walker; brothers, James Earl Lamm, George T. Page, Bobby Richardson and Charles R. Page; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
