Emily Jones Edwards, 88, passed away on Thursday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Graveside services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with the Rev. Wayne White, the Rev. King White and the Rev. Sam Harvin officiating.
Mrs. Edwards was born in Wayne County on April 16, 1920, to the late Isaac Jones and Lula Westbrook Jones. She was married to the late Willie Franklin Edwards. Mrs. Edwards was retired from Cherry Hospital and was a member of the Belfast Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Mrs. Edwards is survived by her children, Barbara Jean White and husband, Wayne of Smithfield, Peggy E. Weaver and husband, Marvin of Raleigh, Joyce E. Braswell and husband, Kenneth of Raleigh, William Franklin Edwards Jr. and wife, Carol of Tennessee and Kenneth Ray Edwards of Goldsboro; her sister, Cornell Smith of Pikeville; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside and other times at the home of Barbara Jean and Wayne White, 7209 Brogden Road, Smithfield.
Arrangements are being handled by Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
