REV. MARVIN R. HOWELL

The Rev. Marvin Ray Howell, 76, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday surrounded by his loved ones.
Homegoing services will be held on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Pentecostal Christian Assemblies, on Cuyler Best Road, Goldsboro, with the Rev. Robert Piper and the Rev. Sherwood Howell officiating. Burial will be Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Howell Family Cemetery on Stoney Creek Church Road.
The. Rev. Howell was born in Wayne County on Nov. 7, 1931, to the late Edgar P.D. Howell and Rosa Chase Howell. The. Rev. Howell was saved at the age of 15 and shortly after was called to preach. He served the Church of God as an evangelist and pastor from 1961 to 1979.
In 1983, he organized the Pentecostal Christian Assemblies where he served as general superintendent for 25 years. He also was a skilled musician, songwriter and singer who could play 35 musical instruments. He will be remembered for his unselfish love and encouragement for humanity, always putting others before himself.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancy Jenkins Howell; a son, the Rev. Joel Mark Howell of Goldsboro; three daughters, Faye H. Pate and husband, Thomas of Deep Run, Sharon H. Thomas of Fuquay-Varina, and Marva Dean H. Corbett and husband, Johnny of Greenville; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; his brothers, E. Max Howell of Goldsboro and Randy Howell of Pikeville; and three sisters, Ruth H. Holloman, Dorothy Strickland and Brenda Wall, all of Goldsboro. He is also survived by many special nieces and nephews; and five "adopted" grandsons who called him "Pa-Pa."
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Paul Howell; a brother, Bobby G. Howell; and a son-in-law, the Rev. Richard Thomas.
The family will receive friends at Pentecostal Christian Assemblies following the service and other times at his home, 948 Stoney Creek Church Road, Goldsboro.
