WALLACE E. THORNE

LaGRANGE -- Wallace E. Thorne, 79, of 1584 New Hope Road, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at his home.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at 4 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home with the Revs. Sherman Guthrie and T.C. West officiating. A private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery.
Wallace was the son of the late Elmer and Ruth Rowe Thorne. His wife, Irene Newsome Thorne, preceded him in death on April 14, 2008. Wallace was the former owner of Goldsboro Tractor Company and was a member of Beston United Methodist Church.
Mr. Thorne is survived by four children, Christie T. Smith and husband, Glenn of Goldsboro, Marsha T. Green and husband, Johnny, of Goldsboro, Mark Thorne and wife, Lynn, of Raleigh, Curt Thorne and wife, Heather, of Nashville, Tenn.; sister, Fannie Lou Dickerson and husband, Alton, of Wilson; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and the mother of his children, Iris Thorne of Goldsboro. Wallace was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters, James Thorne, Henry Thorne, Mavis Pope, Mozelle Lewis and Jean Dodd.
