VELMA GREGORY SMITH

Velma Gregory Smith, 100, passed away peacefully Friday at the Brian Center surrounded by family and friends.
A native of Johnston Country, Mrs. Smith was born on May 1, 1908 to the late John Norman Gregory and his wife, Mary Ann Dixon.
Married to the late Relmon Seth Smith, Velma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a faithful member and servant of Pine Forest United Methodist Church and her community.
The funeral will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Olsen officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Six children, 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild have been blessed with her life. Those surviving her are children, Lehman G. Smith and his wife, Polly, of Goldsboro, Sandra S. Harkey and husband, Roger, of Charlotte, Jack D. Smith and wife, Ann, of Goldsboro, LaNell S. Evans and husband, Danny, of Goldsboro, Debbie S. Creech and husband, Jim, of Greenville and son-in-law Joe McClure of Arlington, Va. Her daughter, Joyce S. McClure and a grandchild preceded her in death.
Flowers are welcome though memorials may be made to Pine Forest United Methodist Church, 867 S. NC 581 Hwy., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530 or to the charity of one's choice.
The family will receive friends at Seymour Funeral Home on Sunday night from 6 to 8 p.m. and at other times at the residence of Lehman and Polly Smith, 3534 US 70 West, Goldsboro.
