DEMETRIS J. ADAMS

An instrument of God sent to the world on Oct. 8, 1984, was called back to the trumpet section of the heavenly band on July 30, 2008, from Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Daniel Adams Jr. and Sandra G. Coley were blessed to serve as parents while his mission of service to the world was being carried out.
The funeral to celebrate his life will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Goldsboro Chapel Free Will Baptist Church with Elder James Collins officiating. His physical tabernacle will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery.
Demetris' mortal remains will lie in state at the McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries Tuesday between the hours of 2 and 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In addition to his parents, he was raised by his grandmother, Josephine Coley and stepmother, Yarsmon Adams. Demetris was blessed with supportive brothers and sisters, Symone Adams-Wiley of Greensboro, Delton Adams of Greensboro, Donovah Adams of Raleigh, Denise Griffin, of Killeen, Texas, Dwayne Bridges of Durham and Darby Adams of Durham.
His spiritual growth was nourished by the Goldsboro Free Will Baptist Church family, along with the United American Free Will Baptist Northwest B. Conference.
Demetris will be remembered as an outstanding musician being used by God to blow out of his trumpet tones that brought about comfort, healing, deliverance and praise. He was skilled in math and used this gift to tutor others. His love for math enhanced his education at N.C. State University, where he completed his studies in computer science.
To be absent in the Body and Present with the Lord and the dead in Christ shall rise first.
The family wishes to thank all of our family and friends for their love and support during this time of bereavement.
