DOROTHY T. POANDL
Dec. 13, 1930-July 31, 2008
Dorothy Thomas Poandl, 77, went to be with her Lord on Thursday. She passed very peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the pastor Lynn Epps officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
Dorothy was born on Dec. 13, 1930, to the late James Edgar and Lucy Hunnycutt Thomas. She was an avid bowler who loved the sport. Dorothy was on the Goldsboro Women's Bowling Association for many years and held many offices and served on several committees. She was retired from Kmart of Goldsboro. Dorothy loved flowers and working in her yard.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Debra Edick and husband, Don of Dudley, Dorene Worrell and husband, George of Snow Hill and Doris Smith and husband, Craig of Goldsboro; her sons, John Poandl and wife, Donna of Dudley, James Poandl and wife, Lisa of Dudley and Joey Poandl and wife, Gina of Dudley; her sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Braxton Pate of Woodbridge, Va.; her sister-in-law, Carla Thomas of Goldsboro.
She is also survived by 22 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren, who all loved her dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, John F. Poandl; her brothers, James Edgar "Cookie" Thomas, Larry Thomas and Gregory Thomas; her sister, Betty Ruth Anderson and her twin sister, Doris Healy.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home
and other times at the home of her daughter, Debra Edick,
105 Poandl Place, Dudley.
