BILL WILLETTS

William Henry "Bill" Willetts, 78, went to be with his Lord on Thursday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 5 p.m. at Pine Forest United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Hoogerland officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Bill was born in Brunswick County on Sept. 19, 1929, to the late George Finnis Willetts and Rosa Della Reeves Willetts. He was a graduate of East Carolina. For 27 years, Bill served the State of North Carolina as a probation officer. He was known for his love of fishing and for being a master gardener.
Bill was a faithful member of Pine Forest United Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class for 46 years. He was past superintendent of the Sunday School, a member of the United Methodist Men and served on various committees. He was recipient of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine from the State of North Carolina. Bill was a member of the Goldsboro Civitan Club, Rosewood School Advisory Board and was instrumental in getting the first football team at Rosewood. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Mary Bottoms Willetts; his daughters, Joann Neal and husband, Don of Rosewood and Beth Osborne and husband, Glenn of Wilson; his brothers, Walter Willetts of Wilmington, Woodrow Willetts of San Antonio, Texas, and Hilton Willetts of Whiteville; and four grandchildren, Olivia Neal, Brooke Neal, Will Osborne and John Osborne.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Evelene Willetts and a brother, George Willetts.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the memorial fund at Pine Forest United Methodist Church, 867 Highway 581 S., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530 or to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the interment and other times at his home, 108 Highwoods Drive, Goldsboro, N.C.
