ROBERT E. COLVIN

PIKEVILLE -- Robert "Bob" Earl Colvin, 73, ended his earthly journey at his residence on Saturday.
A service to celebrate Bob's life will be held Thursday, at 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Creech officiating. Interment with military honors will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Bob was born June 30, 1935, to the late E.E. and Gertrude Colvin of Paris, Illinois. He came to North Carolina in 1974 to help start the Firestone Plant in Wilson, retiring from there in 1997 after 28 years of service. Bob had moved to Pikeville in 1975.
Bob coached several Pikeville and Northern Wayne County baseball teams, retiring from baseball only to get into the Aycock Little Falcon Football program. He was an avid Aycock Falcon Football Fan, traveling many miles and spending many hours enjoying all of his players. Bob was a member of St. Joseph United Methodist Church and the Northern Wayne Heritage Museum.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rosetta "Rosie" Colvin; his daughters, Cathy D. Colvin, of Durham and Cindy Milligan Barnes and husband, Johnnie, of Wilson; his son, SFC Richard M. Colvin and wife, Carol of Loganville, Ga.; his former son-in-law, Mark S. Milligan, of Fremont; six grandsons, Matt Milligan, Travis Milligan, Troy Colvin, Brett Colvin, Chad Colvin, Kyle Colvin; four great-grandsons; one sister, Shirley Teverbaugh, of Peoria, Ill.; a special aunt, Mary Burba of Paris, Ill.; and numerous cousins and nephews. Bob also leaves his many wonderful friends and football family.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly S. Caple and his nephews, Michael Cable and Damon Teverbaugh.
