FAISON -- Mrs. Elizabeth Britt Lucas, 82, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, N.C.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 27, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Tony Joyner officiating. Interment will follow in the Britt Family Cemetery at Keener United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Lucas, a native of Sampson County, was the daughter of the late Colonel Ashford Britt Sr. and Flora Creel Britt. She was preceded in death by her brother, Colonel Ashford Britt Jr.; half-sisters, Leona Cashwell, Mary Bradshaw and Bessie Butler; and half-brothers, Dave and Paul Britt.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert Lucas of the home; a son, Nickie Lucas of Faison; three grandchildren, Niles Lucas of Faison, Camaron Bryan of Chapel Hill and Shannon Williams of Newton Grove; five great-grandchildren; three nieces and two nephews to whom she was a second mother, Donna Britt Carr and Jane Britt Burke both of Wilson, Connie Britt Moseley of Greenville, Samuel Britt of Wilmington and Howard Britt of Hampton, Va.; and several other nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Fu-neral Home in Clinton.
