MARION R. HALES

FAIRFAX, Va. -- Marion Rhodes Hales, 65, of Fairfax, Va., died Thursday, June 19, 2008, at Inova Fairfax Hospital.
Marion was born Oct. 12, 1942, in Wayne County to the late Ollen Floyd Hales and Margaret Rhodes Hales. He served with the U.S. Air Force and graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in electrical engineering. Marion first worked with ITT Telecommunications Corporation and since 1981 has worked as an electrical engineer with Voice of America. Marion was a member and last year served as president of Tysons Civitan Club.
A service of remembrance will be held Monday, June 23, 2008, at 7 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home. A committal service with military honors will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery. A gathering to celebrate Marion's life will be held Sunday, June 29, 2008, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Regency Dominion Valley Clubhouse, Haymarket, Va.
Marion is survived by his wife, Judy Carter Hales; two stepdaughters, Breyl Fields Brinkley and fiancé, Buddy Jones, of LaGrange, Suzanne Fields Daniels and husband, Joe, of LaGrange; four stepgrandchildren, Layla and Alyssa Brinkley, Nate and Jonah Daniels; brother, David Dixon Hales and wife, Judith, of Virginia Beach; nephew, David Dixon Hales Jr. and wife, Allison, of Texas; niece, Anna Hales Cazel and husband, Jeremy, of Florida; aunt, Anna Bruce Grant of Goldsboro; and two great-nieces.
