Jewell Sutton Odom, 101, 100 Perry Drive, died Tuesday at SunBridge Care Center in Mount Olive.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive. The Rev. Patrick Muston will officiate, and burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
She was a long-time resident of the Dobbersville community west of Mount Olive, and was the daughter of the late Julius and Fereba Jordan Sutton and the widow of Clarence Avery Odom.
She was a charter member of Brownings United Methodist Church where she had been the oldest living member.
Known by most as either "Mother Jewell," "Mama," "Grandmama Jewell" or "Aunt Jewell," she is survived by her loving family, which includes a daughter and son-in-law, Jean O. and Al Stroud, with whom she had made her home; six grandchildren, Belinda Alligood, Jeanette Sutton, Steven Stroud, Garry Padgett, Barry Padget and DeVanuia "Dee" Bryan; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara O. and Bearl Vick, along with all her siblings.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home during the hour before the service, and at other times at the Stroud residence at 100 Perry Drive, Goldsboro.
