PAULINE WILLIAMS SHAFER

Pauline Williams Shafer, 83, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 25, 2008.
Pauline was born in Wayne County on July 17, 1924, to the late Leslie Albert Williams and Nettie Winifred Mozingo Williams.She was married to the late Charles A. Shafer Sr. Pauline was a retired LPN having worked in civil service at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. She was also a former employee of Wayne Memorial Hospital and Cherry Hospital. Pauline was a member of the Goldsboro Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jonathan Edwards and the Rev. Rick Mondell officiating. Entombment will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Pauline is survived by her daughter, Barbara Gayle Licari of Carson City, Nev.; her sons, Robert Dale Williams of Amherst, N.Y., and Jeffrey Alan Williams of Goldsboro; her sisters, Mary Rachel Williams Cox of Columbia, S.C., Peggy A. Williams of Goldsboro and Sandra Faye Williams Ivey of Raleigh; her brothers, Leslie M. Williams of Spartanburg, S.C., Jarvis M. "Joe" Williams of Charleston, S.C., Arthur C. "Art" Williams of Dudley, Albert Williams Jr. of Dudley, Arnold Raeford Williams of Kenly, and Maurice A. Williams of Roebuck, S.C.; four grandchildren, Michelle Williams Zak, Laura Ann Licari, Nancy Mule', and Laura Battaglia; 11 great-grandchildren; and three stepchildren, Charles A. "Skip" Shafer Jr., Ricky Shafer and Janet Russell.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melva Dee "Dee Dee" Doutt; her brother, Carroll John Williams; and her stepson, Bobby Shafer.
Memorials may be made to the Fanconi Aplastic Anemia Association, 1801 Williamette St., Suite 200, Eugene, Ore., 97401.
The family will receive friends Tuesday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Peggy A. Williams, 1811 Beech St., Goldsboro.
