REV. MELVIN E. NARRON

The Rev. Melvin Elbert Narron, 80, went to be with the Lord, whom he served so faithfully Wednesday, May 14, 2008.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1100 The First Church Road, Goldsboro. The Rev. Jimmy Whitfield, Bishop Chris Thompson and the Rev. Bill Rose will officiate. Private interment will follow in Kenly Cemetery.
Rev. Narron was born on Sept. 26, 1927, in Johnston County, N.C., to the late Langly Narron and Mollie Fields Narron.
He attended Holmes Bible College and Theological Seminary and later attended Carter College, where he received his bachelor of arts degree and his master's. Rev. Narron was bestowed an honorary doctorate degree of divinity from Carter College.
He retired after serving for 37 years as a minister with the Pentecostal Holiness denomination. He served as pastor for the following Pen-tecostal Holiness churches: Black Creek, Manley's Grove, Vaughn's Chapel, Mount Olive, Whitley, Kenly for 17 years and retired at Brock's Chapel. Rev. Narron was a member of The First Pen-tecostal Holiness Church in Goldsboro. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
Rev. Narron is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret Lancaster Narron; his sons, the Rev. Todd Narron and wife, Sharon, of Wallace and Howard Narron and wife, Lisa, of Columbus, Ga.; his sisters, Marie Goff and husband, Marion, of Wilson; and his grandchildren, Ashley Narron and fiancée, Robert Jones, Lucien Narron, Brandon Lewis and Drake Mailhot.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Rudolph Narron and Edward Narron, and his sister, Louise Aycock.
The family will receive friends Sunday following the service at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church and at other times at the home, 312 Earl Drive, Goldsboro.
