Leroy Newkirk Sr., formerly of 802 Pittman St., died Wednesday morning at Britthaven of Goldsboro.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in the Old Mill Cemetery.
He was the son of the late Henry and Eliza Floyd Newkirk. He was the widower of Rebecca Anderson Newkirk.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory two sons, Michael Dino Newkirk and wife, Berdinia, of Fayetteville, Leroy Newkirk Jr. of Goldsboro; four daugthers, Evelyn Newkirk Chalmers, Pamela Newkirk Wellington and husband, Billy, Jessy Newkirk Wade and husband, Madena, Cynthia Newkirk Kenion and husband, Boss K, all of Goldsboro; one brother, Willie C. Newkirk and wife, Elsie, of Washington, D.C.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a host of cousin, nieces, nephews and friends. A viewing will be held Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel and at other times the family will be receiving friends at 1510 Maple St.
