RACHEL MOORE JONES

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Rachel Moore Jones, 74, 6018 N.C. Highway 55 East, entered eternal rest on Saturday evening surrounded by her family at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Raised in Wayne County, she was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac "Ike" Jones; a son, Michael Anthony Jones; her parents, George and Annie Moore; and three brothers, George, Kenneth and Billy Ray Moore.
She assisted her father and husband on many farms throughout Lenoir, Wayne and Duplin counties for most of her years, and during her later years she enjoyed reading, attending Unity Free Will Baptist Church in Deep Run, spending time with her family, talking with family and friends on the phone, sharing her homemade candy and sweets and just enjoying her life.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with the Rev. Wade Parker officiating. Graveside services and visitation will follow at the Seven Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery in Seven Springs. At other times, the family will be meeting at her residence.
She leaves to cherish memories her son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Patricia Jones of Seven Springs; two granddaughters, Brandi Massey and husband, Matt, of Seven Springs, and Sheri Pabst and husband, Brad, of LaGrange; her most precious great-grandson, Brady Douglas Pabst; two sisters, Virginia Byrd of Albertson and Hazel Hinson of Mount Olive; a special friend, Bessie Weeks of Seven Springs; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to her caregivers Brenda Carter, Dr. David Kemp of Goldsboro, the seventh floor nursing staff of Wayne Memorial Hospital and the staff of Kitty Askins Hospice Center for all the wonderful care given to "Grandma Rachel" during her brief and quick illness.
