MARY CHERRY OLMSTED-STRICKLAND

Mary Cherry Olmsted-Strickland, 75, of 113 Sheridan Road, died Friday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Mary was born in Beaufort County on May 4, 1933, to the late Churchill Cherry and Violet Perry Cherry. She had retired as a claims representative with the Social Security Administration. Following retirement, she drove a bus and worked as a substitute teacher for Wayne County Public Schools. Mary attended Manly Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church.
The funeral will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Chris Watkins officiating. Entombment will be at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mary is survived by her husband, Carroll M. Strickland Sr.; her sons, Michael G. Olmsted and wife, Cheryl of Greenville, Dwight L. Olmsted and wife, Vikki, of Goldsboro and David L. Olmsted and wife, Sonya, of Goldsboro; her brothers, Edward Cherry and wife, Frocine, of Washington and James Cherry and wife, Marge, of Washington; and five grandchildren, Michael Wayne Olmsted, Josh Olmsted, Morgan Olmsted, Cody Olmsted and Nikki Olmsted. She is also survived by her stepdaughters, Teva C. Justice of Kenly and Tammy Booth of Goldsboro; and her stepson, Carroll Strickland Jr. of Goldsboro.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Gary W. Olmsted; her stepson, Michael Todd Strickland; and her first husband, Bob G. Olmsted.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home.
