JIMMY G. MCLAWHON
March 13, 1943-May 3, 2008
Jimmy Gerald McLawhon, 65, of 302 S. Harding Drive, died Saturday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Mark and Gussie Dixon McLawhon and brother to the late Charles Ralph McLawhon, Mark Dixon McLawhon, Joseph Edwin McLawhon, Betty J. Pennington and Mary Jean Underwood. He retired from Cherry Hospital and was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Jimmy was a member of the Elks Lodge and Southern Wayne Country Club. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed most all spectator sports.
A graveside funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with the Rev. Robert Bandy officiating.
Mr. McLawhon is survived by two brothers, Richard B. McLawhon and his wife, Barbara, of Mount Olive, Billy Ray McLawhon and his wife, Kaye, of Goldsboro; two sisters, Mildred M. Harris of Oceanside, Calif., and Ellen Rose Benton and her husband, Bill, of O'Fallon, Ill.
Family members will receive friends immediately following the graveside service and at other times will be at the home of Billy and Kaye McLawhon, 5347 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C.
The McLawhon family requests that memorial gifts be directed to the Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.
