ALLEN R. BROWN

SNOW HILL -- Mr. Allen Ross "Bud" Brown Sr., 70, passed away Friday, April 18, 2008, at Pitt Memorial Hospital. A native of Greene County, Bud was born May 16, 1937, the son of Claude Douglas and Lillie Hill Brown. Following graduation from Snow Hill High School, Bud served in the U.S. Navy for four years prior to attending N.C. State University. Bud was a retired electrician.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Mewborn Family Cemetery with Jeff Howard of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints officiating.
Bud is survived by his wife, Sally Whitted Brown of the home; sons, Allen Ross Brown Jr. and wife, Hope, of Snow Hill, and Butch Brown and wife, Lynn, of Grifton; grandchildren, Allen Ross Brown III, Ashlan Brown and Weston Brown, all of Snow Hill, and Garrett Brown of Grifton; a sister, Bonnie Brown Carraway of Snow Hill; mother-in-law, Pauline Whitted of Snow Hill; sister-in-law, Julia W. Griffin and husband, Otis, of Snow Hill; and special nieces and nephews, Sarah Carraway of Snow Hill, Anna Turner and husband, Rory, of Wyoming, Jack Griffin of Snow Hill, Michael Griffin and wife, Teresa, of Snow Hill, and David Griffin and wife, Hope, of Aulander.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5 until 7 p.m. at Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service and other times at the residence, 207 Sixth St., Snow Hill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greene County Senior Center, 104 Greenridge Rd., Snow Hill, N.C. 28580 or to Boy Scout Troop 555, c/o Jeff Howard, 2134 Springwood Lane, Kinston, N.C. 28504.
