IRENE N. THORNE

LAGRANGE -- Irene Newsome Thorne, 69, of 1584 New Hope Road, died Monday. Mrs. Thorne was born in Wayne County to the late Giles and Julia Garris Newsome. She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret N. Gray; and two brothers, Paul Newsome and David "Caleb" Newsome. Mrs. Thorne was a member of Beston United Methodist Church.
A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at 10 a.m. from Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Sherman Guthrie and the Rev. T.C. West officiating. A private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Thorne is survived by her husband, Wallace Thorne; three sisters, Daphene N. Radford and husband, Albert, of LaGrange, Doris N. Smith and husband, Preston, of LaGrange, Wanda N. Lynch of Goldsboro; brother, Ras Newsome and wife, Mary, of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; two step-daughters, Christie Smith and husband, Glenn, of Goldsboro, Marsha Green and husband, Johnny, of Goldsboro; two stepsons, Mark Thorne and wife, Lynn, of Raleigh, Curt Thorne and wife, Heather, of Nashville, Tenn.; and a sister-in-law, Ethelene C. Newsome.
The family will receive friends Wednesday following the service and at other times they will be at the home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com.
