THOMAS ARRINGTON JR.
Thomas Arrington Jr., 84, of 410 Hamilton Drive, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2008, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro.
Mr. Arrington was born in Wayne County on Jan. 11, 1924. He was the son of the late Thomas Arrington Sr. and the late Vara Simmons Arrington. He was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Ham; and two sisters, Elizabeth Leonard and Lois Robinson.
Thomas attended Goldsboro City Schools and graduated from Dillard High School in 1941. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army and served from 1943 to 1946 being honorably discharged as a sergeant. He matriculated at North Carolina A&T University where he received his professional degree as a cabinet maker in 1948. Thomas later received his bookbinder certificate from the Common-wealth of Virginia in April 10, 1953. He spent several years doing what he loved professionally in the Washington, D.C., area.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 11, 2008, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro. Interment will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery.
He lives forever in the hearts and lives of his loving and devoted wife, Lillie Sutton Arrington; one son, Thomas Arrington III of Houston, Texas; two nieces, Sharmaine Jackson of Philadelphia, Pa., Saundra Meadows of Newark, N.J.; one nephew, Carlton Robinson of New Jersey; a host of great-nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The viewing will be held on Friday, April 11, 2008, one hour prior to the funeral service at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro where condolences may be posted at www.howellfuneral.
