KATIE MAE HUGHES

Katie Mae Kornegay Hughes, 94, died Tuesday at Britthaven Nursing Home.
Katie was born in Wayne County to the late Willie D. Kornegay Sr. and Effie Mae Lewis Kornegay. She was married to the late Rudolph Hughes. Katie retired from Belk with 45 years of service and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Willow Dale Cemetery with the Rev. Homer Morris officiating.
Katie is survived by her son, Rudolph Hughes Jr. of Houston, Texas; her grandchildren, Alton Hughes, Clifton Hughes and Davis Hughes; her great-grandchildren, Sunni Hughes, Amanda Hughes and Joshua Hughes. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Ruby Rice Kornegay of Mount Olive, Lucille Kornegay of Golds-boro, Ruth Smith of Green-ville and Ruth Kornegay of Goldsboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Wayne County Public Library, 1001 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.
The family will greet friends following the service at the graveside.
Arrangements are with Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
