Tommy C. Lewis Sr., 73, of 305 Horseshoe Drive, passed away peacefully on Monday at Duke University Hospital with his family by his side. He was born in Nash County to the late Leonard and Anna Nobles Lewis. A retired master sergeant with the U.S. Air Force, he was also retired from Firestone. He was also an active member of the Goldsboro Moose Lodge.
Memorial services will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Everett officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Pineview Cemetery in Rocky Mount, N.C.
Survived are his beloved wife and best friend of over 50 years, Jean Lewis; two sons, Tommy C. Lewis Jr. and wife, Terry, of Morehead City, Daniel Lewis and wife, Adelade, of Pikeville; five grandchildren, Jennifer Minshew and husband, Dwayne, Stephanie Rarick and husband, Donnie, Damian and Brian Vance, Jesse Watson; three great-grandchildren, Kimberly and Kyia Minshew, Cody Rarick; brother, James Lewis and wife, Louise, of Rocky Mount; and two sisters, Athlene Bone of Rocky Mount, Joanne Grubbs and husband, Adrian, of Deep Run.
Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his precious daughter, Kimberly Lewis; and his siblings, Bennie, Linwood and Marian.
The family will be receiving friends immediately following the memorial service on Thursday evening at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times will be at the home.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorial donations be made to Duke Medicine and Development and Alumni Affairs, 512 S. Mangum St., Suite 400, Durham, N.C. 27701-3973 or Daniels Memorial Church, 2802 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.
