LINYEAR N. WOOLARD JR.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Linyear Newton "Carolina" Woolard Jr., died Tuesday. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 37 years, Marjorie. Born in Little Washington, N.C., Mr. Woolard had been a Hampton resident since 1935. He was an Army veteran of WWII and went on to work in NASA retiring there in 1972.
Mr. Woolard is survived by his sons, Timothy Woolard and wife, Shirley, Chester Pope and wife, Connie; grandchildren, Shannon Woolard, Chuck Sanford and wife, Adri, Mandy Philbeck and husband, Mark, Leonard Pope and wife, Kathy, Tere Clark and wife, Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Mariana, Kain, Justin, Makensey, Ashtyn and Kirsten; and one sister, Alice Wakeford and husband, Don.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2008, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home with interment to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
