ETHEL H. CORBETT

Ethel Hopewell Corbett, 85, went to be with her Lord on Easter Sunday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Ethel was born in Wayne County to the late George C. Hopewell and Rena Best Hopewell. She graduated from New Hope High School and retired from Barry of Goldsboro. She was a member of Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church and enjoyed preparing and sharing meals and desserts with family and friends. Until her health declined, she was often found "picking, gathering, and freezing" the harvest Alton, her husband, planted.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 25, 2008, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home with a service to celebrate her life at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Grady officiating. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park. At other times, the family will be at the home of Jackie and Sandra Waddell, 510 Morgan Trace Lane, Goldsboro.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Alton Leo Corbett; sisters, Nora Holloman and Tiny Hopewell; and brothers, Jim Hopewell and Bruce Hope-well.
Ethel is survived by her daughter, Sandra C. Waddell and her husband, Jackie, of Goldsboro; her grandson, Joel Shelton Waddell and wife, Emily, of Goldsboro; a great-granddaughter, Carlee Addison Waddell, expected to be born today; her sister, Ruth Mozingo and husband, Melvin, of Goldsboro; a special niece, Virginia Hare of Goldsboro; and many other nieces and nephews.
Ethel has been especially blessed to have had a faithful and supportive extended family including: Edna DuBois, Norma Weaver, Janet and Griffin Price, Linda and Ronald Edwards, Gary and Joy Corbett of Goldsboro, Gene and Hester Corbett of Fuquay-Varina, Gordon and Jolene Corbett of Walhalla, S.C.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.
