ANNIE PEARL EVERETT

Mother Annie Pearl Smith Everett began life's pilgrimage on Aug. 12, 1920, and completed her journey on March 16, 2008. She was the fourth child born to the late Julia Stevens and Thomas Smith in Goldsboro.

Mother Everett graduated from Dillard High School in 1938. She then attended Elizabeth City State Teachers 

College in Elizabeth City and graduated with a bachelor's degree in education in 1942. After teaching over 14 years in North Carolina public schools including 12 years in the Goldsboro school system, Annie moved to Washington, D.C., in 1957.

Funeral services will be at noon Saturday. March 23, 2008, at White Oak Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church, 2261 Big Daddy's Road, Pikeville. Viewing will be Friday, March 22, 2008, from 1 to 8 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 James St., Goldsboro. Interment will be at the Everett Family Cemetery, Raynor Town Community on Smithfield Road.

Mother Everett, affectionately known as "Annie Pearl," leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 21 years, Theodore Everett of the home; her children, Nettie Victoria and Samuel Jordan of Washington, D.C.; stepchildren, Clayvon Everett of Chapel Hill, Rochelle Holder of Charlotte; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; five nephews; five nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.
