MOUNT OLIVE -- Helen Sullivan, 87, of Bethel Church Road, died early Wednesday at the Brian Center in Goldsboro.
Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, March 7, at the Tyndall Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Linwood Boyette and the Rev. Mark Stephens officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening, March 6, from 7 until 9 p.m., and at other times at the home of Mrs. William Sullivan, 827 Bethel Church Road, Mount Olive.
Miss Sullivan, was a life member of Bethel United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women. Reared on a family farm, she enjoyed a long tenure of employment at the Henderson-Crumpler Clinic in Mount Olive where she was a nurse, having assisted in the births of a multitude of babies. An excellent seamstress, in subsequent years, she was employed with Young Squire Industries, and later, Ethel's Shoppe, both of which were in Mount Olive. Her later years were spent providing child care in her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivey and Lila Dail Sullivan; a brother, William G. "Bill" Sullivan; and a niece, Beneshia Sullivan Price. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Gay H. (Mrs. William) Sullivan of Mount Olive; a sister, Sannie D. Dean of Raleigh; two nieces, Brenda S. Cherry and husband, Ronald, of Goldsboro, Kaye D. Zumbrunnen and husband, Dan, of Raleigh; a nephew, Wiley H. Dean Jr. of Garner; great-nieces and nephews, T. Brian and Kim Cherry, Joy Cherry, Mark Cherry, Summer Price, Meredith S. and Aldon Cox, Sterling Price, Derik Dean, Callie Dean, Danny Hamm, Catharine Zumbrunnen, Lorelei Zumbrunnen, along with their children.
