FAISON -- It was in the early morning of hours of Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, when Gladys Anderson Lee, 84, of Bill Clifton Road, went to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
She was at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her family, when the angel of death came.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 1, at 7 p.m. at the Tyndall Funeral Chapel in Mount Olive, with her pastor, the Rev. Paul Rose, officiating. The service of committal and interment will be on Sunday, March 2, at 3 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Visitation will immediately follow the service on Saturday at the funeral home, and at other times, the family will be at the home of Doug and Jean Anderson, 138 Bill Clifton Road, Faison.
Mrs. Lee, a long-time member of the Faison Baptist Church, was a retired inspector with Reaves Brothers. She was preceded in death by her husband, John William "Larky" Lee; her parents, George and Lela Jones Anderson; infant twin brothers, Gordon and Jordan Anderson; and two other brothers, Edward Gene Anderson and Robert Anderson. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William E. and Roxanne Lee of Faison; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jean L. and Doug Anderson of Faison, Anne L. and the Rev. Douglas Bartlett of Mount Olive; six sisters, Helen A. Hinson of Beulaville, Eva A. Combs of Naples, Fla., Edna A. Strickland of Suffolk, Va., Inez A. McCroskey of Greensboro, Doris A. Dickerson of Raleigh, Eunice A. Overton of Grantham; eight grandchildren, Christy L. Peterson, Dwayne and Kristie Lee, Jason and Kim Lee, Brad and Morgan Lee, John and Carla Anderson, Casey and Amanda Anderson, Matt and Leigh Ann Bartlett, Lauren B. and Julian Delgadillo; and eight great-grandchildren; her special canine companion, "Millie"; her loving care-givers, Jean Langston, Cheryl Strickland, Tracy Browdy. The Lee family also wishes to acknowledge the Carolina East Hospice team for their untiring support and care rendered Mrs. Lee and the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Faison Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 280, Faison, N.C. 28341.
