LAGRANGE -- Orrin Wallace Perry Jr., 80, died Sunday at his home. Mr. Perry was born in Wilmington to the late Orrin Wallace Perry Sr. and Toie Smith Perry. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Lewis Perry. Mr. Perry served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and was retired from Hampton Industries. He was a member of LaGrange United Methodist Church and the Wilmington Masonic Lodge. Mr. Perry was an avid motorcyclist and bowler. He enjoyed following the UNC Tarheels and was well known for the Daschund dogs he raised.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at 10 a.m. from Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Karl Grant, the Rev. Ben Sims and the Rev. Tom Newman officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Perry is survived by three children, Lillian "Penny" Perry Gray of Goldsboro and special family friend, Oden Ratcliff of LaGrange, Orrin Wallace "Wally" Perry III and wife, Allyson, of LaGrange, Mena Perry Parson and husband, Dennis, of Fredericktown, Mo.; five grandchildren, Samuel Perry Gray and companion, Susan Ussery, Jaime Lyn Perry and friend, Dusty Harrison, Katherine Elaine Gray, Anne Elizabeth Dail and husband, Jeremy Mooney, Christina Lauren Willis; three great-grandchildren, Bella Anne Dail, Lyla Grace Mooney, Trexler Cardin Gray; three sisters, Amarette Pierce of Wilmington, Toie Elizabeth Perry of Wilmington, Lois Estelle McConkey of Fruitland, Idaho.
The family will receive friends Wednesday following the service and at other times they will be at the home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com.
