PRINCETON -- Gary Wayne Ward, 33, died Saturday. Born in Wayne County, he was the son of Jerry Earl Ward and Rose Godwin Grimes.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Princeton, with the Rev. Dennis Pollock officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Gary was preceded in death by his father.
Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Rose and John Grimes of Pikeville; his brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Teresa Ward; his niece, Brooke Marie Ward; and his nephew, Tyler Reese Tilghman, all of Princeton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the funeral service.
Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to the N.C. Spinal Cord Association, 3701 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, N.C. 27609. Gary was a major fan of University of North Carolina sports and of Dale Earnhardt. Friends are welcome at the home of Rose and John Grimes, 203 Clifton Ridge Drive in Pikeville.
