CLARENCE "DOODLE" CASEY

Clarence Lewis "Doodle" Casey, 76, of 426 Emmaus Church Road, went to be with the Lord early Saturday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital following a long and valiant fight. Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Edgar Robert and Narcissa Grady Casey. A prominent farmer and leader in his community, "Doodle" was a charter member of Arrington Volunteer Fire Department of which he retired and was a former fire chief. He attended Emmaus Baptist Church.
A celebration of life service will be held Thursday evening at 6 p.m. at Emmaus Baptist Church with the Revs. Vernon Braswell and Johnny Sasser officiating. Graveside services will be held Friday morning at 11 a.m. at Emmaus Baptist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce York Casey; four daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Victor York of Houston, Texas, Sherry and Donnie Finlay of Dudley, Pam and Clark Anderson of Wake Forest, and Elaine Henson of Dudley; two sisters, Sarah Covington of Charlotte, Dorothy Casey of Winston-Salem; 10 grandchildren, P.K. Wise, Jonathan York, Tracey Shipp, Gene Casey, Laura Beth Bartlett, Jessie Finlay, Collen Finlay, Zack Anderson, Elijah Anderson, Hannah Anderson; five great grandchildren, Makenzie Wise, Victoria Wise, Braydon York, Daniel Shipp and Darren Bartlett.
Mr. Casey was preceeded in death by his son-in-law, Bobby Henson.
Family members will greet friends Thursday evening immediately following the funeral at Emmaus Baptist Church Fellowship Hall and at other times will be at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the Arrington Volunteer Fire Department, 570 Emmaus Church Road, Dudley, N.C. 28333.
