Marie Fields Brock Grant, 92, died Wednesday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. She was born in Wayne County to the late Walter Pleasant and Ida Casey Fields and was married to the late Allen D. Brock and the late Charles Grant. A life-long member of Falling Creek Baptist Church, she served numerous years as a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed writing poetry and children's stories as well as contributing periodically to the editorial page of the Goldsboro News-Argus.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Falling Creek Baptist Church. The Rev. Ron Varner will be officiating. Burial will follow at Falling Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Grant is survived by one son, Daniel Fields Brock; two daughters, Joyce Allen Brock-Smith and Judith Brock Craig; one sister, Christine Fields Gray; two grandchildren, Victoria Mitchell and Michael Craig; and one great-grandchild, Jason Mitchell.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, the Rev. Luby Fields, Robert Fields and Ollie "Pete Fields.
The family will be receiving friends at Falling Creek Baptist Church following the graveside service.
