JIMMY CRAWFORD III

PIKEVILLE -- James Leslie "Jimmy" Crawford III, 58, went to be with his Lord on Monday morning at his home surrounded by his family.
Jimmy was born in Wayne County to Mevis Williams Crawford of Pikeville and the late James Leslie Crawford Jr. He owned and operated Crawford Furniture in Pikeville and Crawford Appliance in Goldsboro. Jimmy was a graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and was also a graduate of High Point University. He was a faithful member of St. Joseph United Methodist Church, where he served as superintendent of the Sunday school and was a member of the Methodist men. Jimmy was a member of the Pikeville Lions Club and the Southern Home Furnishing Association. He was a faithful supporter of Charles B. Aycock High School and served on their advisory council.
With the expectation of a large gathering of family and friends, a service to celebrate Jimmy's life will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. William Creech officiating. Burial will follow in Pikeville Cemetery.
In addition to his mother, Jimmy is survived by his wife, Sheila Sasser Crawford; his daughters, Lindsay Crawford, Meredith Crawford, Leslie Crawford and Sarah Crawford, all of the home; his sister, Beth Crawford Hill and husband, Robert E. Hill, of Raleigh; his brother, David Williams Crawford and wife, Ramona R. Crawford, of Monrovia, Md.; his nieces, Elizabeth Hill, Stephanie Crawford and Christina Crawford; and his nephews, Robert Hill, Dustin Hill, John Hill and Joseph Crawford.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to St. Joseph United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 43, Pikeville, N.C. 27863.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home, 107 N. Fort St., Pikeville.
