David Louis Nichols, 74, died Friday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. He was born in Wayne County to the late Raymond and Sudie Nichols.
Five children survive.
A private service will be held.
The family is being served by Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
