Vickie Howell Bartlett, 54, died Monday evening at her home. Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of Ruth Howell of Selma, N.C., and the late William David Howell. Vickie was a financial secretary with the Wayne County Public Schools for many years. A member of Goldsboro Friends Meeting, she was also a Sunday school teacher. She graduated from Smithfield-Selma High School in 1971 and was a member of the National Honor Society. She graduated from Mount Olive College with a degree in Business Administration.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Goldsboro Friends Meeting with David Brendle officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Cemetery near Seven Springs.
In addition to her mother, Vickie is survived by her husband, Vernon Bartlett; one brother, David Howell and his wife, JoAnn, of Smithfield, N.C.; one sister, Beverly Grant and her husband, Woody, of Snow Hill, N.C.; nieces and nephews, Robbie and Ben Howell, both of Wilmington, N.C., Josh Howell of Smithfield, N.C., Melissa Penley of Clayton, N.C., Stephen Underwood of Snow Hill, N.C.; a great-nephew, Nathan Penley of Clayton, N.C.; and a beloved dog, Doc.
The family will gather to greet friends Wednesday night from 7 to 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
