SUDIE REBECCA STEPHENS VAUGHAN

Sudie Vaughan died at home with her family on Wednesday morning. A Virginia native, she was the daughter of William and Daisy Stephens. Mrs. Vaughan was an active member of The First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, in Goldsboro, N.C. Mrs. Vaughan was married to and is survived by her husband, Carl Elmer Vaughan.
Mrs. Vaughan was an active member of the Goldsboro Rescue Squad and Auxiliary. Sudie was Dr. Con T. McDonald's nurse for 20 years. She was also a dedicated volunteer for several years at Wayne Memorial Hospital, where she touched the hearts of many people.
Mrs. Vaughan is survived by her two sons, Stephen, of Boston, Mass., and Michael and his wife, Teresa, of Smithfield, N.C. She is also survived by her daughter, Becky, and her husband, Bobby, of Goldsboro, N.C.
Mrs. Vaughan is survived by her four grandchildren, Carla Franzen of Alaska, Michelle Woodall of Smithfield, Emily West of Goldsboro and Chris Vaughan of Goldsboro, and four great-grandchildren. She leaves behind two grand-dogs, whom she adored with all her heart and who brought joy to her life. Mrs. Vaughan is also survived by her dearest friends, Vicky Spence, Eric Griffith and Pete Gunn.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Fred Clarke officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at 2600 Burtus Drive, Goldsboro.
