MINNIE S. HILL

STANTONSBURG -- Minnie Smith Hill, 81, died suddenly on Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Minnie was born in Johnston County to the late Nick Smith and Virginia Mitchell Smith. She was a member of Yelverton United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher. Minnie served her Lord actively for many years. Along with her husband, they owned and operated Hill's Grocery Store in Faro. Minnie had also volunteered as a 4-H leader.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg Moser officiating. Burial will follow in Eureka Cemetery.

Minnie is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, James Irwin "Irvin" Hill; her son, James Dennis Hill and wife, Peggy, of Stantonsburg; her daughters, Donna H. Cuthbertson and husband, Barry, of Belize, Central America, Terri H. Ervin and husband, Dean, of Grifton; her grandchildren, Holly Lutze, Lisa West and husband, Brian, T.J. Hill, Dennis Hill Jr., Stewart Ervin Jr. and wife, Lindsey, Justin Ervin and Jeremy Ervin; and her great-grandchildren, Matthew Lutze and Colby Ervin. She is also survived by her brothers, Ray Smith and wife, Blois, of Princeton and Buck Smith and wife, Ginny, of Princeton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lillie Mae Edwards; and her brothers, Dock Smith, Willie Smith and Nick Smith Jr.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home, 778 Herman Lane Road, Stantonsburg.
