JOSEPH K. KING
FAISON -- Mr. Joseph Kenneth King, 78, of 4850 Giddensville Road, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007, in Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Goshen New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. John Baschieri of Lehigh Acres, Fla. and the Rev. Norwood Starling of Roanoke Rapids officiating. The eulogy will be given by his children, the Rev. Steven King, the Rev. Stanley King and Donna King Threet. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. King, a native of Sampson County, was the son of the late Rev. Henry Cleveland King and Donnie Eldridge King. He graduated from Piney Grove High School in 1947. He owned and operated Joseph King and Sons Produce, Inc., and farmed in North Carolina and Florida. He was a lifelong member of Goshen New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. After moving to Lehigh Acres, Fla., he became a member of New Life Assembly of God where he also served as a deacon and home group leader for the Primetimers fellowship.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorcas Jackson and Esther Deaver; and one brother, Samuel King.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Betty Starling King of the home; sons, the Rev. Steven King and wife, Lynn, of the Outer Banks, the Rev. Stanley King and wife, Tina, of Faison; one daughter, Donna King Threet and husband, John, of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Threet Meyers and husband, the Rev. Jamin Meyers, of Naples, Fla., Christal Threet Neimeyer and husband, Dan, of Ft. Myers, Fla., Nichole Threet Runion and husband, Joshua, of Lehigh Acres, Fla., Josiah King, Joshua King, Justin King and Jason King, all of Faison; two great-grandchildren, Evan Meyers and Kayla Runion; one foster great-grandchild, Jasmine; a sister, Ruth King Murphy of Faison; and brothers, John L. King and Moses King and wife, Dean, all of Faison.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at West and Dunn Funeral Home in Newton Grove.
