DR. REV. ROBERT ATKINSON
Died July 21, 2007
PRINCETON -- Dr. Rev. Robert L. Atkinson 93, of 427 W. Second St., died Saturday at home. He was the son of the late James Henry Atkinson and Emma Frances Nixon Atkinson.
A homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, 2 p.m., at the Goldsboro-Raleigh Assembly Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, 214 W. Hooks River Road, with Senior Bishop Mordecai Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the Spells Cemetery, Clayton, N.C.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories six children, Mae Frances Ashford of Princeton, Madge L. Atkinson of East Orange, N.J., Robert Wesley Atkinson and wife, Doris, of Princeton, Lessie A. Sowell of Greensboro, Peggy Atkinson and fiancee, Leroy Jones, of Princeton, Matthew Jerome Atkinson of Goldsboro, Michelle Harper and husband, Maurice, of Greensboro, whom he raised; and a special friend of the family, Annie Sykes of Princeton.
There will be an inspirational wake held Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at St. Stephens Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, Princeton.
