EVELYN C. LYNCH

Evelyn Crews Lynch, 80, died Tuesday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Evelyn was born to the late Frank Crews and Virginia Crews Catalano. She was married to the late Jesse W. Lynch. Evelyn was a homemaker and attended Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church.
She grew up in Goldsboro and was a graduate of Goldsboro High School. Evelyn worked briefly for the News-Argus prior to her marriage. As a military wife, she traveled extensively with her husband, raising her children in other states and countries. She was happy to return to Goldsboro after her husband's retirement from the military, because she never wanted to be far away from her mother. Evelyn enjoyed her family, friends and neighbors for many years at Chafin Road. She loved all animals, especially cats, and cared for animals that she found wounded or hurt.
Evelyn was a devoted wife to her husband and cared for him at home during a long illness with Parkinson's Disease. Following his death, she was blessed by the love of her family and friends that helped her endure this loss. Her youngest daughter, Karen, was her constant companion. She will be remembered for her warmth and caring ways, her sense of humor and her love of music. Although she did not leave home very much, she had an abiding faith in God that helped her endure her declining health.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Everett officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Diane Tumblin and husband, Richard, of Portsmouth, Va., and Karen Lynch of Goldsboro; her grandson, Evan Tumblin; and her "special" granddaughter, Kayla Powell.
She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, James Catalano.

The family would like to express their thanks to everyone for their outpouring of love and care shown to our mother. May God bless each of you in a very special way.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Kenny and Kim Powell, 603 Chafin Road, Goldsboro.
