EDWARD HARE

Feb. 19, 1927-July 13, 2007

STANTONSBURG -- Edward Lee Hare, 80, of 1118 Lindell Road, died Friday at Wilson Medical Center. A native of Wayne County, he was born February 19, 1927, the son of the late Durand and Gertrude Combs Hare. Mr. Hare was retired from the Chrysler Corporation and was a member of the American Legion. He also served his country in the United States Navy and Army.

Funeral will be 7 p.m. Monday at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dallas Spence and Joe Strouse officiating. Interment will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Goldsboro.

Surviving are his wife, Emma Sauls Hare; daughters, Barbara Hare of W.Va., Bonnie H. Carter of Jacksonville, Juanita Fields of Salem, Ala., Bessie Jo Hare of Phenix City, Ala., Shirley George of Columbus, Ga., Judy Simmons of Lee County, Ala., Tammy Jenkins of Williamston, S.C., Diane Kirkland of Columbus, Ga., Connie White of Sims, Barbara Waddell of Stantonsburg, Nancy Thompson of Zebulon, and Patricia Mattox of Winnsboro, S.C.; sons, Jerry Wayne Caulder of Phenix City, Ala., Scott Langston of Pikeville, Ken Gurganus and John Gurganus of Columbia, S.C.; sisters, Esther Hare of Goldsboro and Kathleen Oetken of Reno, Nev.; brother, Lloyd Hare of Conway, S.C.; 34 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hare was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rosa Lee Hare and a sister, Cleo Warner.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930 B Wellness Drive, Greenville, 27834.

The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
