GORDON B. JACKSON
Feb. 9, 1923- July 10, 2007
CALYPSO -- Gordon Bryant Jackson, 84, died Tuesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Ferguson and Dr. Gregory Day officiating. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.
This Mount Olive native was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II. He was a member of the Northeast Free Will Baptist Church though he had attended the Calypso Baptist Church for many years, and was a retired farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William "Billy" and Betty Hinson Jackson; his first wife and the mother of his children, Grace Lambert Jackson; and two brothers, Grover Jackson and Jim Jackson.
Survivors include his wife, Abbie Batson Lambert Jackson of the home; three daughters and their husbands, Virginia J. and Jimmy Outlaw of Dudley, Martha J. and Roger Davis of Calypso, and Donnie J. Byrd of Calypso; a stepson, Jimmy Lambert of Calypso; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Janie L. and David Stevens of Mount Olive and Donnie Ann L. and Billy Sauls of Goldsboro; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 102 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at the residence at 585 Albritton Road.
