KENNETH PAUL MOORE
April 6, 1941-July 7, 2007
Kenneth Paul Moore, 66, of 723 Ridge Drive died Saturday morning at his home. Kenneth was born in Wayne County to the late Besty Beatrice Moore.
For 24 years he was the owner and operator of Mount Olive Locker Plant on Breazeale Avenue. By trade he was known for his custom processing. Since retiring in 2000 he humbled his community with his assortment of cookers, pots, and other cooking utensils.
He was a member of Providence United Methodist Church since 1967. Kenneth was an active member of his United Sunday School Class. He was known for barbecuing pigs, which aided in the success of the annual Church's Harvest Sale since 1979. He enjoyed cooking which led to much suspicion over his "secret recipe," a sauce used for barbecued beef. Kenneth had a green thumb when it came to his rose bushes and garden.
He is survived by his loving wife Ann Scott Moore of 44 years. A son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Holly Moore; three grandchildren, Kenneth Paul "Kent" Moore II, Cole Carroll Moore and Carley PeggyAnne Moore.
The family will greet friends Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 723 Ridge Drive, Goldsboro 27530. Funeral will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Providence United Methodist Church with the Revs. Dr. Jerry A. Jackson and Vernon W. Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Providence Church Troop 10 c/o Cleve Jones 271 Providence Church Road, Goldsboro N.C. 27530. Memorial gifts may also be directed to the Take A Kid Fishing Foundation, Attn. Teresa Holcombe, P.O. Box 1191, Morehead City, N.C. 28557.
