MOUNT OLIVE -- Funeral services for Mr. Willie "Chess" Smith Sr., 68, of 202 E. Slocumb St., will be held Monday, June 25, 2007, at 2 p.m. from the St. Mark F.W.B. Church, with Bishop Michael Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Carver Cemetery.
Mr. Smith died Tuesday at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. He is the son of the late David Lee and Lena Taylor Smith.
He leaves to cherish loving memories, his wife, Juanita Smith of the home; one son, the Rev. Willie Smith Jr. of Mount Olive; three daughters, Tina Smith and Marie Carlton of Mount Olive and Sylvia Swinson of Dudley; four sisters, Rebecca Manley of Goldsboro, Hattie McCullen and Louise Broadie, both of Dudley, and Jennie King of Mount Olive; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Garris Funeral Home Chapel of Mount Olive.
