Walter Lee "Mann" Battle Jr., 65, 164 Hare Road, died Tuesday at this residence. Funeral will be noon Friday at Best Grove Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Larry Johnson and Joe Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Mill Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Bell Battle of the home; daughter, Pamela Battle of Goldsboro; two sons, Gregory Battle of Goldsboro and Charles Williams of Maryland; sister, Bishop Verna Tate of Goldsboro; brothers, Dr. Clifton Buckrham of High Point, Otis Best, Larry Best, Linwood Best, Clinton Bryant and George Parks, all of Goldsboro; seven grandchildren.
Viewing will be tonight from 2 to 7 p.m., with the family present to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries.
