James William Yelverton, 79, 1101 S. Slocumb St., died Tuesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. at St. Luke Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ, with the Rev. David Williams and the Rev. Michael Yelverton officiating. Burial will be in Old Mill Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Yelverton of the home; daughters, Camilla Holmes of Springfield Gardens, N.Y., Janice Wooten of the home, Myra Drawhorn of Goldsboro, Janet Reid of Charlotte, N.C.; sons, Jimmy Yelverton of Garner, the Rev. LeRoy Williams of Brunswick, Ga., the Rev. Michael Yelverton and Ralph Wooten Jr., both of Goldsboro; sister, Wilhemia Best of Baltimore, Md.; aunts, Willie Mae Lawson of Richmond, Va., Bessie Carmichael of Goldsboro; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be 2-7 p.m. Friday with an inspirational wake from 6 to 7 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home of Goldsboro.
