SHERWOOD W. EZZELL

DUDLEY -- Sherwood W. Ezzell, 59, of 359 Club Knolls Road, died Sunday afternoon at the Veterans Hospital in Durham.
Graveside funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Park. Pastor Blain Smith will officiate, and Masonic rites will be led by W. Ray Joyner.
His parents were the late Gordon and Alice Cherry Ezzell and he was their youngest child. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, was a member of the Mount Olive Masonic Lodge No. 208 A.F. & A.M., the Wayne County Shrine Club, the Sudan Temple, and its mini-rigs unit. He attended the Dudley Christian Church and had been the longtime owner and operator of Convenient Auto Sales, Glass and Tires Inc., which was in Mount Olive.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Swinson Ezzell of the home; two daughters, Staci E. Holland of Mount Olive, and Lesley H. Whitman and husband, Christopher, of Dudley; adopted family, Shauna Brignon and Laramie Brignon of Mount Olive; three grandchildren, Nicholas Holland, Josh Holland and Lindsey Whitman, all of Dudley; and his sisters and brothers, Louise E. Turner, Ruth E. Smith and Norwood Ezzell, all of Mount Olive, Nancy E. Summerlin of Kenansville and Gordon Ezzell Jr. of Rocky Mount.
The family will receive friends at the Family Life Center of Dudley Christian Church immediately following the graveside service. At other times, they will be at the residence.
