KATHERINE B. ALLRED

MOREHEAD CITY -- Katherine Brendle Bland Allred died on Sunday in Morehead City.
She was the daughter of the late Oscar and Roberta Brendle and the wife of the late David Hendry Bland Jr. and Charles Arthur Allred. She graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1933. Mrs. Allred and her first husband, David Bland, were founding members of Madison Avenue Baptist Church, which played a big part in her life. She was active in community affairs including United Church Women, Salvation Army Auxiliary, Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Evergreen Garden Club and bridge clubs in Goldsboro, where she lived 83 years before moving to Morehead City in 2003.
She is survived by daughter, Martha Bland Bell and husband, William Dennis Bell, of Morehead City and their sons, William Dennis Bell Jr. of Morehead City and David Bland Bell and wife, Jill Smith Bell, of Doylestown, Pa.; daughter, Cherry Bland Crumpler and husband, Edward Lee Crumpler, of Wilmington, N.C., and their children, Jennifer Crumpler Galloway and husband, John A. Galloway, of Marietta, Ga., Edward Lee Crumpler Jr. and Katherine Kyle Crumpler, of Wilmington, N.C.; step-daughter, Rachel Allred of Portsmouth, Va.; and three wonderful great-grandchildren, Katherine Wood Bell, Ava Lovelace Bell and John Parker Galloway.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at Madison Avenue Baptist Church in Goldsboro. A private family burial will be at Willowdale Cemetery prior to the church service.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mrs. W. Powell Bland, 1700 E. Walnut St., Goldsboro, N.C.
