WILSON -- Robert "Duke" Franklin Winders, 77, died on Monday. He was born in Wilson County, the son of the late Benjamin Franklin Winders and Mertie Pearl Minshew Winders.
He is survived by a son, Sherwood Winders and wife, Stephanie, of Goldsboro; daughters, Betsy Webb and husband, Larry, of Wilson, Jean Winstead and husband, Gary, of Rock Ridge, and Vivian Nordan and husband, Earvin, of Lucama; son, Richard E. Sauls and wife, Kathy, of Stantonsburg; sisters, Roxie Newsome and Margaret Vick, both of Wilson, Helen Lancaster of Pikeville and Julia Bennett of Elizabethtown; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 11, 2007 at Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Austin Pendergraft officiating.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 10, 2007 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas Yelverton Funeral Home and other times at the home of Betsy Webb, 6054 Lamm Road, Wilson, N.C.
